Mexico has two principal travel seasons. High season begins around December and continues to Easter, although in some places the high season can begin as early as middle of November. Low season is from the day after Easter to middle of December.
Mexico is enjoyable year-round, but October to May is generally the most pleasant time to visit. The May to September period can be hot and humid, particularly in the south.
Climate: Mexico has two main climate seasons. The rainy season from early June to middle of November and the dry season from middle of November to early May. The rainy season can be of little effect in the dry, northern region of the country, but the southern regions typically have tropical showers.
Hurricane season lasts from June until November, though most hurricanes occur between August and October. Hurricanes and tropical storms in Mexico primarily affects the Yucatan Peninsula and the southern Pacific coast.
Elevation is another important factor. High-elevation cities such as Mexico City can be surprisingly cold. Temperatures can drop close to freezing at night in winter.
